The Revd Kate Prowd was baptised and confirmed in the Melbourne Diocese. Half way through her tertiary studies Kate ventured on a year-long sojourn overseas that included a pilgrimage to Walsingham in the UK and the discernment of a vocation to full-time ministry. Kate returned to Australia, finished her arts degree and commenced a theological degree at Trinity College. She was ordained deacon (1986) and priest (1992) during years of intense debate over the ordination of women.  Kate served her first curacy at St. Stephen’s Mt. Waverley, and was associate priest in the parishes of St. Agnes’ Black Rock and Holy Trinity Hampton. She was the first school chaplain appointed at Christ Church Grammar School, and later served at Brighton Grammar. Whilst an associate priest, Kate completed a Masters in Clinical Psychology (2013). Her psychology work has included various positions (student health at university, hospital and private practice). Her most recent ministry position was as honorary associate at St. Stephen’s Gardenvale. Kate has combined her dual vocations as priest and psychologist working as an Examining Chaplain and conducting the psychological assessments for ordination aspirants.

Kate is married to Roger, also an Anglican priest. They have 3 daughters, Phoebe, Cordelia and Eleanor.
