Ascension Day – 30 May 2019

The Feast of the Ascension is one of the major feast days of the Church’s year and falls 40 days after Easter.

Ascension is when we mark Jesus’s return to heaven after he appeared to his disciples after his Resurrection at Easter. Angels in The Acts of the Apostles promise that the Holy Spirit would come to strengthen the apostles and all his followers, and so Ascension Day has always been closely associated with the feast of Pentecost nine days later when the Church celebrates the coming of the Spirit.

Ascension Day also marks the beginning of Thy Kingdom Come, a prayer movement inviting Christians around the world to pray between Ascension and Pentecost for more people to know Jesus.
