A message for World Water Day

Barka-Lower Darling River

At present, we’re particularly mindful of the devastating situation currently unfolding on the Barka-Lower Darling River around the Menindee Lakes.

Earlier in the year we hosted an art, voice and justice exhibition ‘Aquawhen II?’ that told the stories of those directly impacted by the poor health of the Barka-Darling River, one of Australia’s longest river systems.

In this video recorded for the United Nations Water Conference 2023, Uncle Glenn Loughrey – who curated the exhibition – reflects on the issues facing the Barka River and the communities surrounding it, and how a Voice to Parliament could enable more positive outcomes in the future.
