Remembrance Day • Services

Every year, on 11 November at 11 am – the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month – we pause to remember all who have served and those who have died in all wars and peacekeeping operations.

As we do this we remember that they are not simply gone, buried, and forgotten, but that no matter how long ago they died they are alive in God as we are, and he continues to draw them to the glory of heaven, cleansing and healing them from the wounds inflicted on earth, making them perfect in love.

At 10.55am a short Act of Remembrance, including one-minute silence, will be held on the Perron (facing onto Flinders Street). All are welcome to join this short service.

At 5.10pm on the same day, a Commemorative Service will be held in the Cathedral, with music led by the Cathedral Choir. Our normal COVID-19 Entry requirements apply for this service.

A broadcast of the service will be televised in Melbourne and Geelong on C31 (Digital 44) on Monday 15th November at 2.30pm, and repeated on the Cathedral’s live-streams on Tuesday 16th November at 5.10pm.

A prayer for Remembrance Day

Ever-living God we remember those whom you have gathered from the storm of war into the peace of your presence; may that same peace calm our fears, bring justice to all peoples and establish harmony among the nations, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

The Cathedral will be open from 10am-1pm on ANZAC Day, with an ecumenical service at 11am.Click here for service details
