Held on the fourth Thursday of each month from February to November, our Thursdays at Three meetings take in the Barbara Darling Room at 3pm. Each meeting is addressed by a speaker, and concludes with afternoon tea. Free entry.

Our second speaker this year is the Revd Canon John Sanderson, the Vicar of St George’s East Ivanhoe. John’s current responsibilities include serving as School Chaplain at Ivanhoe Grammar School, Vice Chair and Board Member at Mission to Seafarers Victoria, and ministry with the Anglican Defence Force Chaplaincy. Before ordination, he was a Federal Agent with the Australian Federal Police and prior to that a Detective with the Metropolitan Police in London. Rather than talk about solving London crimes, though,

John will be speaking about his the urban solar farm at St George’s East Ivanhoe. There a new set of solar panels, installed with the help of a Banyule Council environment grant, have significantly reduced the church’s carbon emissions— by 46 tonnes a year, equivalent to planting more than 8,000 trees throughout the lifetime of the project, or 1,000 long-haul flights.
