Douglas Weiland’s “Twelve Words of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ From and Beyond the Cross.”
Tuesday, March 31 at 5:10 pm to 6:30 pm
Douglas Weiland’s piece takes its initial inspiration from the 1787 string quartet version of “The Seven Last Words of Christ” by Joseph Haydn, a work composed for performance on Good Friday.
The English/Australian composer Douglas Weiland takes the narrative further, adding Words of Christ spoken after the Resurrection.
Renowned musician, William Hennessy AM, a longtime advocate of Weiland’s music through The Weiland Project, offers here the Australian premiere of this beautiful work.
We welcome you to attend this event in the stunning surrounds of the Cathedral. (Entry by donation)
3MBS Melbourne 103.5FM will capture a visual recording of the performance for a delayed stream on the 3MBS website at 3pm on Good Friday, April 3.
