Roslyn Carolane, Cathedral Assistant Organist, will perform five works based on hymn tunes. Sigfrid Karg-Elert’s two powerful settings from his Opus 65 of ‘Nun danket alle Gott’ and ‘Ein feste Burg ist unser Gott’ will contrast with three more sonorous, harmonically rich settings of contemplative hymn/carol tunes: Langlais – ‘There is a Fountain filled with blood’; Hebble – ‘I wonder as I wander’, and Sowerby – Prelude on ‘Malabar’.

About our Lunchtime Concert Series:
A series of lunchtime concerts was launched in April 2013 to encourage city workers and others to come into and enjoy the beautiful surroundings of the Cathedral during the day. These weekly concerts at 1pm on Wednesdays provide fine music and space for contemplation in the midst of a busy week.
