Concert | John Stainer’s ‘The Crucifixion’

Friday, March 29 at 3:00 pm to 4:30 pm

Since 1892, the Cathedral Choir has sung John Stainer’s “meditation on the sacred passion of the Holy Redeemer”, otherwise known as The Crucifixion, on almost every Good Friday.

This passion oratorio recounts the events preceding and during Christ’s crucifixion, told by two soloists– tenor and bass – with choir and organ, and interspersed with hymns for all to sing.

If you haven’t attended this Good Friday tradition before, it is a service not to be missed.

Bookings are not required. A suggested donation of $20 will help support the Cathedral’s Music Program and enable these performances to continue.

Preacher: The Revd Canon Heather Patacca, Precentor
