‘The Good Shepherd’ is a cleverly woven program of devotional shepherd-themed songs perfectly suited to Helen’s soaring angelic tones. Featured tunes include the divine ‘Ihr habt nun Traurigkeit’ from Brahms’ Ein deutsches Requiem, ‘He shall feed his flock’ from Handel’s Messiah, ‘Ich folge dir gleichfalls’ from Bach’s St John Passion, hymn settings of Psalm 23: ‘Crimond’ and ‘Dominus regit me’ (Dykes), and solos from Goodall, Mawby, and more.
About our Lunchtime Concert Series:
A series of lunchtime concerts was launched in April 2013 to encourage city workers and others to come into and enjoy the beautiful surroundings of the Cathedral during the day. These half-hour concerts at 1pm on Wednesdays provide fine music and space for contemplation in the midst of a busy week.
