Concert | Sacred Choral Works

Wednesday, April 16, 2025 at 1:00 pm to 1:30 pm

Will Fellows directs a contemplative selection of sacred choral works, performed by some of Melbourne’s finest tenors and basses. Victoria’s ‘Tenebrae factae sunt’ portrays the darkness that fell at Christ’s crucifixion, Poulenc’s ‘Seigneur, je vous en prie’ sets music to Saint Francis of Assisi’s prayer of humility and peace, and Brumel’s ‘Lamentations of Jeremiah’ depicts the sorrow felt at the fall of Jerusalem.

We hope you can join us! Entry by donation.

About our Lunchtime Concert Series:
A series of lunchtime concerts was launched in April 2013 to encourage city workers and others to come into and enjoy the beautiful surroundings of the Cathedral during the day. These concerts at 1pm on Wednesdays provide fine music and space for contemplation in the midst of a busy week.
