An evocative service remembering the Last Supper at which Jesus washed the feet of his friends, followed by a silent vigil of prayer
Good Friday
9:00am Choral Liturgy of the Cross and Communion
A solemn telling of the Passion story in music and commemoration of the death of Jesus on the Cross with opportunity for personal prayers under the Cross
12:30pm Devotions under the Cross
A meditative service of readings, addresses, Passion hymns and prayers, marking the final three hours of Jesus’ life and his death on the Cross
7:00pm The Crucifixion – John Stainer
A telling of the Passion story through the music of John Stainer, performed by the Cathedral Choir of boys and men. Free admission: a donation of $25 per person will help cover the costs of this Good Friday tradition
Easter Day
6:00am Easter Vigil with Baptism and Confirmation
A dramatic dawn service from darkness to light, with lighting of the new fire and Easter candle, Baptism and Confirmation and first Eucharist of Easter
8:00am Traditional Language Service
Holy Communion according to the Book of Common Prayer 1662 with Easter hymns
9:00am Family-style service
A celebratory Eucharist with Easter hymns, children’s activities and Easter eggs
10:30am Choral Eucharist
A festive Choral Eucharist with Blessing of the Easter Garden, led by the Archbishop of Melbourne
